Summary: At the end of Requiem (Season 7), Scully reflects on why she and Mulder never said goodbye at the end of their many phone conversations over the years.

Mulder, its me, she said, using her own traditional greeting. She tried to tune out the curious observations of the freckled-faced girl.

Hours later, as the girls mother went to fetch coffee for both agents, she took advantage of the opportunity. Why dont you say bye on the phone? Everyone else does and mama says its rude not to.

Unable to answer, the agents exchanged a look.

It wasnt until Scully was in a hospital bed, her mind spinning at the discovery of her pregnancy and Mulders abduction, that she realized there was never a need to say goodbyeuntil then.
